Business trip to Tbilisi and Yerevan, Georgia and Armenia, 27/09 to 02/10 2010

The Caucasian republics Georgia and Armenia with their capitals Tbilisi and Yerevan will be the destinations of a trip of a delegation from September 27 to October 02. The journey will be realised within the external economic promotion of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology.
Georgia expects an economic growth of up to 5% in 2010. Today Germany has already become the most important EU trading partner of the country in this connection. The Georgian Government endeavours to improve the trading and investment climate through targeted reforms. In addition to the positioning of the country as transportation corridor between Europe and Asia investments into road construction, municipal economic activities and into the energy sector are planned. Furthermore, the Government plans to establish four free industrial zones in the country over the next years.

After years of rapid economic growth Armenia also had to struggle with the consequences of the economic crisis in 2009. Since the beginning of this year there have been signs of growth though: Within the period January to April 2010 the GDP rose by 7.2% in comparison to the previous year. Industry, construction industry and power generation are main reasons for this economic upturn. Not least because of credits of international banks several new projects within infrastructure/road construction, energy, telecommunication and agricultural economy are currently being initiated.

The deadline for registration is September 3 2010. For registration and further information please contact uta.beyer@dwvg.ge.
